The Night Mothman Won: Cryptids, Candles & a Baltimore Adventure

Apparently, the natural progression from selling bookish candles at a book festival is attending a cryptid costume ball.

Dressed as Mothman.

And winning a costume contest.

Obviously. 🦇

Baltimore, We Meet Again

After Baltimore Book Fest in September, The HoneyBee Dragon made its way back to Baltimore for Night of the Living Cryptids, hosted by Scryptid Games at Peabody Heights Brewery.

A cryptid costume ball, a monster market, drag performances, readings from Tales from the Cryptids, and even a cryptid rock opera?

An entire evening dedicated to monsters, storytelling, and wonderfully weird creativity?

We were absolutely in.

And this crowd? Our kind of people.

Mothman Has Entered the Chat

There were monsters, cryptids, and more Mothmen than I could have hoped for.

Naturally, I showed up with a rather impressive set of wings.

And somehow, those wings earned me the title of Showiest in the costume contest!

Apparently, wingspan matters. 😉

#WingspanMatters

Between the costumes, the creativity, and everyone's enthusiasm for embracing their wonderfully nerdy side, this was easily one of the most entertaining events we've attended.

Candles, Cryptids & a Little Market Magic

Of course, we brought along our collection of bookish candles and fantasy-inspired fragrances.

The market brought together a fun mix of shoppers, brewery visitors, horror lovers, and fellow nerds.

And while not everyone came specifically to shop, we still had some lovely customers discover The HoneyBee Dragon.

There's something particularly fun about talking books, candles, and fictional monsters with people who understand the assignment.

Would We Do It Again?

Mothman and fellow costumed attendees pose together with enormous black wings and colorful costumes at Night of the Living Cryptids in Baltimore.

In a heartbeat.

Between the incredible costumes, the wonderfully nerdy crowd, and the sheer number of Mothmen wandering around, this was exactly the kind of event we love being part of.

There's just something magical about finding a whole room full of people who embrace the weird, the whimsical, and the wonderfully unexpected.

And honestly? Any event where I can sell bookish candles and win a costume contest is going to be pretty hard to top. 🦇

Until the Next Sighting

A huge thank you to Scryptid Games, the fellow vendors, and everyone who helped make Night of the Living Cryptids such a wonderfully strange evening.

We came for the monsters, brought the candles, and somehow left with a costume contest victory.

Not a bad plot twist.

And to all my fellow Mothmen out there?

Stay showy. 🖤
